December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. This day marks the anniversary of the 1989 murders of 14 young women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal, who died simply because they were women.
At 8:30am on December 6th, conference attendees will be invited to commemorate the victims of the l'École Polytechnique massacre, to consider the women and girls for whom violence is a daily reality, to remember those who have died as a result of inaction or lack of awareness and consider actions we can all take to end the violence.
Tracy Porteous, Ending Violence Association of BC
